The above quote is so true. I've found myself not knowing what to say, so I've often offer platitudes. Now I know it is far better to show "interest and patience" with those that grieve, for that is what I would want if I were suffering from a loss. I've learned a lot here. Thank you for sharing!

One suggestion: I noticed you left a YouTube link. I'm not sure if you want to embed the video or not. If you do, hit the space key to start a new paragraph and select the <> symbol from the + menu. If you want the video to start from the 3-minute mark, run the video until that mark on YT, stop the video at that mark & copy/paste the link into the embed function on Medium. Hit enter, and you will see the video in your story.
